National Day Of Prayer “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD: and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.” Psalms 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD. The meaning of the word “Blessed” in Hebrew as used here is esher meaning happiness or blessedness – the idea is that the nation whose God is LORD is happy and what is true of a nation as a whole is also true of the individual. The condition for this nation, for us as a people to be happy and blessed is that the nation is one that worships Yahweh and is under His protection. This distinguishes nations that worship God from those that worship false gods or idols. Today is the “National Day of Prayer.” Won’t you take at least a moment and pray for this nation and its leaders that they would seek God’s council in all decision making? My prayer today is that the nation as a whole would be a blessed and happy nation by realizing the following: 1.) He is REAL God, the true God and not an imaginary person or fiction. 2.) Because His laws are just and good and their observance will always tend to promote the public welfare and prosperity 3.) Because His protection will be granted to this nation 4.) Because His worship, and the influence of worship to Him will pour out virtue, intelligence, purity and truth over this land and will promote its welfare. It is only when we sincerely lift up this nation and prayer and praise God for the purity of His holiness, the power of His creation, and, for the perfection of His policies in dealing with individuals, governments, and kingdoms that will we truly find peace and happiness both at a national level and personal level. Jesus Style “Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee. Psalms 33:18-22 |
